This simple but effective murrini tutorial comes about from the Sydney bead meeting upon discussion about murrini making in general. If you enjoyed this tutorial and want to show your appreciation, please use the PayPal button below. Note: sorry to say this, but since PP takes a cut of what ever I get, please make your "donation" more then $1. Thanks! What I did is:      1. chose two contrasting colours. I used cobalt blue and clear in this case.      2. make a lolly pop in cobalt
     3. shape the lolly pop into a rectangular paddle
     4. cover one side with clear.
     5. melt the clear layer smooth and reshape to a rectangle paddle.      6. attach a punty to the end of the paddle.
     7. gently heat and pull into a 1cm wide ribbon.      NOTE: make sure the width is as even as possible and maintain the flat profile.
     8. use a pair of pointy tweezers and make a start of the curl at the end of your ribbon.
     9. heat the start point of the curl so it is just soften and use graphite tool to push the curl in so it will roll up.
     10. Keep heating and pushing till only 1cm of ribbon is left to roll up.         NOTE. the excess is to help with cutting the ribbon later      11. attach a clear punty to the flat side of your roll.
     12. now take a glass nipper and cut the ribbon from the cobalt punty.      13. melt smooth end of the ribbon and encase with another layer of cobalt blue.
     14. melt smooth again and attach a punty to the other end of the murrini.
     15. heat well and pull out into desired thickness.    Below are the murrinis that you will get from this tutorial
A good tip on using the murrini from Renee Wiggins is to:      i) apply the murrini to base bead      ii) DO NOT melt in yet      iii) put a drop of clear on top of the murrini      vi) NOW melt it into the bead      An example of the spiral murrini by Renee is below |
