I made and designed this bead for Westmead Children's Hospital - Bravery Bead program. If you enjoyed it and want to show your appreciation, please use the PayPal button below.

Note: sorry to say this, but since PP takes a cut of what ever I get, please make your "donation" more then $1. Thanks!

To make this bead:

     1. Make some fat stringers around 2-3mm thick. I used about 30 cm for each bead. If you can use the pre-made stringers as they are the perfect size.

     2. make a oval shaped bead with well shaped ends.

     3. flatten one side slightly for the base of the brain.

     4. Let the base bead cool a little so it won't loose it's shape. Keep the base bead out of the flame from now on as so you don't end up with sharp bead ends.

     5. Take the prepared stringer and squiggle on random continuous line all over your base bead. Make the pattern as close together and as close to the edge of the holes as you can.

     6. Check the bead for any gap between the patterns. Put a dot of colour to fill it up any major gaps.

     7. gently heat and use tools to flatten the added dots a bit.

NOTE: DO NOT melt flat the lines and dots.

     8. Working slowly, gently heating the centre line of the bead and use tool to cut a crease to form the dividing line.

NOTE: Don't over heat here or you will loose the patterns on the brain. If necessary, do this a small section at a time. It is important that you don't hurry this process other wise you will loss the brain "pattern".

That is it for the basic brain bead. The following steps are optional to add googly eyes.

     9. add two white dots near one end. Melt in slightly so there is no under cut but not flat.

     10. use intense black and add a dot on top of the white dot.

DONE! :-)
